Monkton Farleigh celebrated Harvest on Sunday, 25 September 2016.
This service always has a particular relevance at St Peter’s as the church is part of a rural community that is surrounded by working farms.
The church was decorated for the occasion with a spectacular series of flower arrangements reflecting the colours and fruitfulness of the season.
Rachel Pound led the service which included a reflection on giving. The congregation enjoyed a performance by the Monkton Farleigh Singers during the service as well as singing popular seasonal hymns. During the service gifts of food were laid at the altar and these gifts will be donated to the Hub in Bradford on Avon.
The collection taken at the service will be donated to the Farming Community Network. After the service a hot lunch of homemade cottage pie and apple crumble was served in the Village Hall.
The delicious and generous food ensured that everyone enjoyed a tasty meal whilst catching up with friends and neighbours.
