School governors are people who want to make a positive contribution to children’s education. We are seeking three new people to join our governing body. This is an exciting time for our school and its pupils, as we look to 2017 and beyond and plan our future.
No previous experience is required. We need a broad spectrum of experience and skill on the governing body, everybody has something valuable to offer. Lots of training available from Wiltshire Council. At Churchfields we use a ‘Buddy’ system to help new governors feel supported and get up to speed comfortably and successfully, whilst getting to know other team members.
The governing body has a key role in the development and oversight of the school. Governors work with the head teacher to make decisions about balancing resources, the school’s strategic direction and look at pupil progress and development. We meet four times a year and some governors will also attend committee meetings e.g. regarding curriculum or finance.
If you are interested in making a positive contribution to the local young people’s community – please get in contact.
We would especially like to speak to people who have similar experience to:
An Accountant or similar, someone good with numbers.
Business management skills.
Teaching or education background.
Please speak to the Chair of Governors, Helen Forsyth (Helen@findacreativepro.com), the Headteacher, Simon Futcher (firstname.lastname@example.org.
