A New Bench Dedicated to the Memory of John Pownall

A new bench has been placed at the top of the Avenue by the family of John Pownall dedicated his memory. Family and friends attended a dedication ceremony on Saturday 14th April and now the bench is there for all to use and enjoy the magnificent views.

Defibrillator for Monkton Farleigh

Over £300.00 was raised at the Kings Arms after the Garden Fete this year.  This money and a very generous grant from the Friends of Bradford-on-Avon Community Health Care means that Monkton Farleigh will soon have a defibrillator fitted outside the Village Hall.  Not long after this life saving equipment has been fitted there will be a demonstration about how to use it.  Dates and times will follow shortly.

Knit and Natter and Knit Aid

Monkton Farleigh Knit & Natter Group has just sent 3 large blankets and a number of warm hats to Knit Aid who are taking a large consignment of such gifts out to Syrian refugees in Greece.  The group is going to continue to knit gifts through the year to send.  “We have so much and they have nothing” is the view of all the knitters.  If anyone wants to contribute, squares of good, dark-coloured, yarn 8″ x 8″ are needed …

Duke of Edinburgh Volunteers Help Keep Monkton Farleigh Tidy

Every Sunday for the last three months two students from St. Laurence School have been picking up the litter from around Monkton Farleigh as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme .  They have picked up at least a bin bag full every week.  There was a range of litter from bottles of old engine oil to glass bottles and fast food packaging.  Our village looks much tidier and is less hazardous to wildlife.
